As cannabis continues to go mainstream a large portion of the once counter-culture has retreated to the newly emerging less socially acceptable corner of the pot scene simply known as dab. With a public perception largely based around over sensationalized and over publicized negative media, dabbing has faced an uphill battle since coming on the public radar. Inexperienced undereducated home producers experimenting with the sometimes volatile solvents used in the extraction process have led to accidents some times resulting in severe burns and property damage. In spite of the dangers, public demand for the extracts continued to surge advancing the science along with the industry.

Touted by some to be the true evolution of marijuana, dab as it pertains to cannabis refers to the extracted essential oils of the cannabis plant. The oil is separated from the flowering material through the use of organic solvents like butane or highly pressurized carbon dioxide. The result of all this alchemy is a honey like extract commonly reaching levels of THC and CBD that exceed 80%. Add in the positive effects vaporizing over combustion and it is no wonder the dab scene is gaining so much traction. While much skepticism remains among the older crowd, the younger generation has been quick to adapt to the evolution in technology, ensuring dabbing will continue to be an expansive part of the growing marijuana culture.
